As there is no uncertainty of cinema halls opening up anytime soon, directors and producers have gone ahead with digital releases for their movies. Movies like Dil Bechara and Gulabo Shatabo also had big stars but saw digital release due to the evil Covid-19.
Now it is being reported that Rajkummar Rao’s film Chhallang, which costars Nushrat Bharucha will also have a digital release. The film has been directed by Hansal Mehta and is releasing on Amazon Prime Video.
The film was initially titled, Turram Khan. But as the movie shooting went ahead the team decided to go ahead with the title Chhallang as it was able to convey a much bigger meaning with it. And what meaning they wanted to convey? This you will only know after you watch the movie.
The writer of the story, Aseem Arora, said, “It’s about sports and education. Rajkummar Rao is a physical training instructor in a school in a small town in Haryana. It’s about the coming-of-age of this man and how he trains the kids. He is not serious about his job initially, but one event makes him realise how sports and education should go hand-in-hand as they have the same values. These values should be instilled in every child, who will then be empowered to take on the world.”
Chhallang was announced in August 2018 and was to release in January 2020 but due to Covid that did not happen. So they have decided for a digital release, but still, the exact date hasn’t been finalised. We will just have to wait and watch.
